Privacy Policy

The short version

ThreadNote stores your bookmarks, threads, and notes locally in your browser. We don't collect, transmit, sell, or share that content. The only thing you can voluntarily send us is your email address, and only if you opt in to release notes.

What data ThreadNote stores

Locally on your device via Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local: your bookmarks, sub-threads, color palette, and per-conversation thread history. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly enable cloud sync (a future Pro feature) and connect your own cloud account.
Settings: extension preferences (which tips you've dismissed, your last-used color, sync settings if any).

What ThreadNote does NOT collect

No analytics or telemetry. We don't know who installs the extension, how often you use it, or what you do with it.
No content of your Claude.ai conversations is sent to any ThreadNote server. The extension reads the page locally to inject its UI; nothing is uploaded to us.
No advertising IDs, no third-party tracking scripts, no remote logging.

Email signups (optional)

If you enter your email on this site or in the extension's welcome screen, that email is stored on a server we control for the sole purpose of sending you ThreadNote release announcements. We will send no more than a few emails per year. We never share or sell email addresses. You can request deletion at any time by emailing the address in the footer.

Cloud sync (future Pro feature)

If you enable cloud sync in a future ThreadNote Pro version, you'll connect ThreadNote to a third-party cloud service of your choice (GitHub, Google Drive, or Notion). ThreadNote will write your bookmark and thread data directly from your browser to your chosen cloud account. ThreadNote does not store this data on our own servers, and we don't see it pass through. The cloud provider's privacy policy governs that data while it lives in their service.

Permissions the extension requests

storage — to persist your bookmarks and threads in local browser storage.
activeTab — to interact with the Claude.ai page you have open.
alarms — to schedule periodic background sync if you enable cloud sync (Pro).
host permissions for claude.ai and api.github.com — to inject the UI on Claude.ai and (Pro) to read/write your private GitHub gist for sync.

Children

ThreadNote is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy we will update this page and bump the "last updated" date. For significant changes (such as adding any new data collection), email subscribers will be notified.
